Hello! and welcome to this massive wall of text that is about to take up the next half hour of your lives :D please dont comment "or" like if you dont read through it all... I might add a TLDR if people request it enough, but if its not worth doing, ill pass :) The following is just my views and opinions about a tonne of threads and complaints / ideas that ive congregated into one thread for one general ideas discussion! hopefully the overall view of this thread is positive, and everybody contributes to the solutions rather than haters and trollers. enjoy!
first to make dust fun again, we need to find out why its not.
what i can think of at the moment... *tanks in the redzone shooting everybody from complete safety *tanks with their stupid imbalance to everything everywhere.... MLT beating Standard etc... costing 80k... cmon... *Lack of action across the maps (too few players per battle, as you can spend half the battle just walking and the other half getting shot at) *uplink spams in pc (yes, nyain is guilty of this too because its a viable tactic) *being out gunned as a heavy...still *lack of game modes. *lack of content (which is being addressed a little in 1.8 :D ) *random deaths while flying dropships.. (not being hit by anything at all, and just exploding... wtf?) *New players being thrown into the shizz after 1, maybe 2 academy battles... seriously... *lack of objective or drive to play.. just getting more money or tiny amounts of sp towards a new weapon isnt enough. *Horrendous lag in pc and unbelievable amounts of content abuse (railtank spam, uplink spam, lag, forge gun spam, rail rifle spam, etc etc etc..) *one word that sums up dust514 ... "Imbalance"
im sure ill think of more later, but lets use these for now. Okay, now we have a bunch of issues that ruin the game, lets sort them one by one!
Tanks in the redzone shooting with rail turrets from safety, and their isk cost... *remove MLT railguns, increase MLT tank cost to around 500k isk, nerf hardeners / HP for MLT tanks and standard tanks, disable turrets for vehicles in the redzone, Remove the red lines on the map so we can spot these tanks and orbital bombard (doesnt really fix anything... but still kills them :P ) Take your pick.
Lack of action across maps *create more cqb (close quarter battle maps), increase player count for massive maps by 8 per side, add a system to increase the players drive towards the target such as more isk for how hard and fast you can push into the enemy, not sure of other ideas so give me some :D
Uplink spam *introduce a new equipment failure mechanic such as 1 uplink per person and cannot be placed within 50m of another friendly uplink. uplink is destroyed upon death, limit uplinks usability to squads or even personal use (sorry to mention it, but similar to the tactical insertion from COD.. personal respawn points), Uplink spam also makes it much harder to navigate the map when theres 30+ uplinks to cycle through to get to the desired spawn.. this can take up to 30 seconds to just cycle through, then lag, then 10 second spawn... so 1 minute to re-enter the game? no thanks.
Being outgunned as a heavy *turn heavies into mini tanks with super dropsuit mods exclusive to heavies similar to vehicle mods, increase heavy cost by 4-5x current isk price, work out something with SP so that they arent made impossible to use now, but also not made completely freaking OP. for example, low rates of damage, low range, slow turn speed, but complete meatshields. Im not much of a heavy user, but being shot to death by a med suit with a rail rifle at twice the hmg range makes the heavy inviable... or maybe heavy is fine and RR needs to go to hell :P you tell me!
lack pf game modes *.....introduce new game modes maybe?... look at MAGs game modes... the best FPS experience ive ever had was with that game and its incredible game modes. Maps are completely wrong as it stands in dust, as everything has an OP field of vision to slaughter the enemy... bottle necks everywhere, open ground for tanks and snipers, no cover for dropships from tanks whilst remaining in battle (apart from in the triple ring tower map).. We need a no vehicle, all out slaughter mode for ambush with crazy cqb, 100 clone kill count, no time limit, and small turrets mounted on walls, small trenches, bunkers, barbed wire, hacked doors, (no large installations ...), hackable ammo dumps that arent in the middle of an empty uncovered field but located in armouries within the facility. We need game modes where one team defends and others attack, not just "hack this and kill their mcc", but a string of objectives that require the previous objective hacked to move forward etc... like in MAGs acquisition with detonating gates and bunkers and so on... The possibilities for game modes in dust must be exploited to make dust a trully incredibly fps. If you take anything from this thread, its that game modes make a game what it is... not balance and imbalance...
lack of content *covered a bit above, but we need to fill the gaps asap with medium vehicles, light vehicles, heavy vehicles, small turrets, and looooooads of weapons is never a bad thing. Basically, if you think we will eventually have enough content, youre wrong. This game should never stop producing content or its player base will fall. granted the content should be "good" content, but no content is worse than bad content xD
